New Years Day Nurdling!

BSC will once again compete against Itchenor on New Years Day for the Nurdling title!

Meet 10:45 for an 11am start at the Hare and Hounds pub in Stoughton, PO18 9JQ. All families and ages can join in.

The route is up Cardiac Hill (165m vertical ascent) across the top of the ridge past the tumuli above Kingley Vale, and down Monarch's Way back towards the Hare and Hounds (c.4.5km in total).

Large wooden spoons whipped to broom handles, and bin lids are useful for flicking and making safe the Nurdle (as pictured).

Dress: Anything goes.

The website calendar is the definitive version, so regardless of what is printed in the Red Book, it's best to check the website before planning your sailing. Start times/locations etc may be changed up to 24 hours before advertised start time. The 2022 Notice of Race is being re-written to reflect this.

Alongside the sailing calendar, the duty roster is also live. There are over 900 duties to fill and every one helps make the sailing happen safely. As a reminder, as part of your membership, everyone aged 16 to 70 (inclusive) is required to undertake at least one duty each year. If you are a regular race sailor, we ask that you do at least two duties. Many members do much more.

For 2022 we ask that members sign up for duties by 7th March. We also ask not to sign up for Cadet/Oppie duties unless a cadet parent. For full information on the duty roster and how to sign up see the 'BSC 2022 Duties' document in the Members Hub here. There are some changes from previous years, so please ensure you read the document. Find out what each race duty entails here. These documents will be updated in due course.

The 2022 training calendar is being populated onto the website over the next few days and will be available for members to book here from 1st Jan 2022. The training calendar is very fluid and reactive to demand, with waiting lists in operation. So if what you want is fully booked on the dates you want, please book onto the waiting list (no payment required) and we will try and accommodate you. Additional training will be added throughout the year.

BSC Christmas Staff Fund 2021

As a club we have a policy of no gratuities/tips being expected for the staff throughout the year. As we move into the Festive season, it would seem an opportune time to ask if you might like to show your appreciation to our dedicated team for their tireless hard work and commitment that they have shown us all during this very challenging year.

If you would like to, please do so between now and the end of December.

You can contribute in various ways:

  • BACS transfer to Bosham Sailing Club Sort Code: 60-05-24 Account No: 97741663 Ref: Staff Christmas Fund
  • At the bar till where there will be buttons to pay £10 or multiples thereof via your Red Card

The fund will be open until 31st December and will be distributed in January.

Happy New Year!

Paddy Mirams

Commodore
