Pippa Shepherd represents GBR

Pippa Shepherd was selected to represent GBR in the Asian and Oceania Championships, an IODA event in Abu Dhabi at the end of October.

The GBR team of 8 had a few days training followed by measurement where every single part of the boat is weighed and measured followed by 5 days of racing. The first three days were the qualifying series after which the 180 competitors from 27 countries were split into 3 fleets, Gold, Silver and Bronze.

Pippa was one of only three GBR sailors and the only girl who made Gold fleet, a real achievement. In between the racing there was time for a bit of site seeing and plenty of fun meeting the other teams. A real experience and great to have Bosham Sailing Club represented at such a high level.

Pippa learnt to sail in our very own Cutmill and her first ever race was in the Bosham Regatta in 2017.
