One Land Rover, two drivers, two boats, 11 BSC rowers and 11 supporters headed to Loch Ness for the Monster row on September 19th. What should have been a 21-mile row from Fort Augustus to Dores became a 10-mile loop due to high winds, sleeting rain and bumpy water.

Despite the conditions, Monearn's crew (Jane Weller, Debbie Bell, Charlotte Vessey, Rebecca Mayhew and Eloise Rank) came 28th out of 122 entries, completing the course in 1 hr 9mins. Lundy (Tim Bell, Maxine Hulme, Annie Proud, Shirley Stanton, Tris Mayhew, Lyn Murray) recorded 1hr 41 mins and 100th place.

Huge thanks to Peter Haining and Oliver Pleasance for the rousing words of encouragement, towing, unloading and loading, and to 11 very wet cheerleaders.
By the way, no-one spotted the monster. Maybe next time …
