Bosham Shines at the GBR 420 Nationals

What a fantastic showing from Bosham Sailing Club at the GBR 420 National Championships in Brixham!
Seven Bosham sailors took on one of the toughest youth fleets in the country over the August Bank Holiday weekend and came home with plenty to celebrate.
Zac and Pippa Shepherd, India and Tom Eastwood, Ed and Elsie Upton-Brown, and Florence Lewin all raced in an incredibly competitive fleet of 50 boats across four days of challenging conditions. With winds averaging 25 knots, gusting up to 30 knots, and one whole day cancelled because it was simply too windy, this was a championship that truly tested every sailor's skill and determination.
Our Bosham cadets showed trademark grit, resilience and teamwork doing us proud both on the water and on the dance floor!
Ten races were completed, and Bosham sailors claimed three race wins congratulations to Pippa, India and Zac for each taking a victory.
The final results were hugely impressive:
- India Eastwood 1st Female and 7th Overall
- Zac Shepherd 4th U19 Male and 6th Overall
- Pippa Shepherd 2nd Female and 2nd U17
- Ed Upton Brown 16th Overall
- Tom Eastwood 18th Overall
- Elsie Upton Brown 31st Overall
- Florence Lewin 43rd Overall
Special shout out for Florence Lewin for competing in the Feva and 420 Nationals this year and competing in her first ever 420 event (let alone the Nationals!).
To have seven Bosham boats competing so strongly at a national championship is a brilliant achievement and a testament to the talent and commitment of our young sailors. With special thanks to the Bosham Youth Fund for their continued generous support to these cadets.
