Harbour Dues and Charges Reminder
Published 10:39 on 12 Mar 2025
We would kindly remind members that all vessels (including racing and cruising dinghies, rowing craft, tenders, paddleboards, jet skis, canoes, kayaks, SUPs and windsurfers) using Chichester Harbour have a statutory obligation to pay harbour dues and to display their harbour dues plaque each year.
The revenue derived from Harbour dues and mooring fees is used by Chichester Harbour Conservancy to fund the cost of the harbour's management. This includes giving advice and assistance, maintenance of navigational aids, environmental work and the enforcement of byelaws. Harbour dues apply when you use your boat on the water, whether its on a permanent mooring, in a marina or boat park, or even if you keep it at home, and even if you only occasionally use the harbour.
With the receipt of payment for annual dues, a plaque is issued, which must be affixed on the port side aft of the hull. The charge is considered 'not paid' unless the plaque is attached to the vessel. The owner of any vessel evading payment or not displaying a plaque is liable to a penalty three times the amount of the charge.
