Repair Works to Swan Island

Published 13:06 on 9 Feb 2022

There will be some repair works to the Swan Island starting Mid-February (the area with the white chain fencing as shown in this photo). The work we are doing is to remove and repair the damaged brickwork whilst also removing the damaged concrete slabs and replacing that with concrete over the area between the repaired brick retaining walls. The flag pole will need to be removed and repositioned during these works. We will also be removing corrosion from an existing steel beam. We have contracted Paul and Dale Bridger from Aspect Builders to do the work. They do a lot of work in the local area and have agreed to remove all waste at the end of each day and keep it off site whilst the works are being completed. There will be a low level self-supported scaffold deck on top of existing steel framework in place from mid-February in order for the wall repairs and concreting work to be carried out. The work is weather dependent but will be completed in advance of the busy sailing season starting towards the end of March. Any questions please do get in contact with RCPlanning@boshamsailingclub.com.
