Clean sweep for rowers

Published 13:16 on 6 Aug 2025

At Dell Quay's Centenary Regatta on Saturday August 2nd, Bosham nailed first place in every race. The regatta attracted 80 rowers from nine clubs in the harbour.

BSC's rowing coach, Peter Haining, coxed the women's, men's and mixed races, with Rob Ward taking the rudder on the last mixed event. Aboard the Celtic Longboat, Lundy, were Charlotte Vessey, Rachel Hodgson, Annie Proud, Lyn Murray, Jeff Parker, Bertie Paradise, Rob Ward, Tudor Watkins and Ben Lewis.

"We are definitely some team and it was an awesome feeling to win every race," said a very happy Haining. The wins, he said, were made even sweeter when two of BSC's starts for the 2.8-km course were impeded by pleasure craft and poor comms.

On Saturday 9th August, "the flying machine" Lundy will be heading to the 10-mile Tudor Challenge, hosted by Tudor Sailing Club, in Langstone Harbour. Coxing the crew of five for this testing, full-on event will be Charlotte Vessey. Go Bosham!
