BSC at the 3rd Tudor Challenge

Published 11:27 on 13 Aug 2025

The 3rd Tudor Challenge took place on Saturday 9th August and Bosham was represented by an all female crew of Debbie Bell in stroke, Armelle Owen-Navet in 3, Maxine Hulme in 2, Annie Proud in bow with Charlotte Vessey coxing.

The Tudor Challenge is a 10 mile open event in Langstone Harbour for any fixed seat boat with a minimum of 4 oars. Bosham took Lundy, our Celtic Longboat, there were over 27 other crews in mostly Celtic Longboats, Bursledon Gigs and Cornish Pilot Gigs. The majority came from our three harbours, but some came from further afield including Valencia, Spain!

Bosham got a good start and held their position well in the fleet making the lumpy seas (wind over tide on the long straight) look easy.

They upped the stroke rate on the homeward straight and yomped home with a good mid fleet position.

Well Done Bosham!
