BSC Newsletter 20th October 2021

RYA Regionals
Since the newsletter last week, additional information has emerged from the recent RYA Regional Championships.
In the Fevas, Silvia and Alice Gelosi came first amongst the girls and a very close second overall. This is particularly impressive considering they were new to Feva's at the beginning of this year. It just goes to show how hard they have worked in both training and racing this year which has resulted in some increasingly good results throughout the season. Many congratulations girls!
In Toppers, after several challenging qualifying race conditions of high winds in Hastings and light winds at Island Barn and Queen Mary, congratulations also goes to Otis Perry who has been accepted into the Topper Regional Training Group for the South East Region. The South East has some fantastic helms and so Otis is sure to learn a lot over the winter and early 2022 from the RYA's superb training team.

BSC at Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez Regatta
Congratulations to BSC's Peter Nicholson who came second at the prestigious Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez Regatta.
Peter Nicholson, competing under the BSC pennant, raced his Solent Sunbeam Dainty to second position behind the legendary sailor Harold Cudmore in one of the world's most prestigious classic yacht regattas this month.
Crewed by fellow BSC members Christine Graves and Dick Pratt, as well as Henry Dembinski, Peter's remarkable boat survived gales of over 50 knots on the way from Cannes to Saint-Tropez and then went on to secure them a win in the last race. Peter's personal story can be seen on the BSC website by following this link.
