BSC Rowers at 'Monster the Loch'

The 7th 'Monster The Loch' (Ness) took place on Saturday 6th September.
Three crews from Bosham joined 125 more to rise to this year's 21 mile challenge rowing from Fort Augustus to Dores beach. Valiant and Monearn made their furthest trip north courtesy of the indomitable Peter and Fraser Haining. The shore crew of husbands and friends were also invaluable as was the amazing BSC teamwork unloading and loading the boats.
It was a frenetic start but the fleet quickly spread out and there was time to take in the stunning scenery. The weather was perfect, warm with a breeze to help us towards Dores. At the finish there were blisters, sciatica pain, cramp and numb bottoms but there were also Bagpipers piping us in, joy at our achievement, lots of hugs, Rachel's flapjack and money raised for several charities.
Sadly Nessie didn't make an appearance this year.
- The crews were:
- Valiant: Kay Glennie, Sarah Heber, Kate Holligan, Laura Lewis, Teresa Mathers, Jane Weller.
- Monearn : Claire Aston, Philippa Gogarty, Rachel Hodgson, Jane Mackenzie, Eloise Rank.
- Hired quad: Lorna Donnelly, Karen Nash, Armelle Owen-Navet, Charlotte Vessey plus local man Damon as cox.
