New Racing Documents

The Notice of Race (NoR) and Sailing Instructions (SI) for club racing have been published. They are available to download below and are kept on the website footer under 'Race Management' and on the upstairs noticeboard in the clubhouse. Both documents have undergone considerable review and revision so if you are intending to race this season please read them. Special events such as open meetings, regattas, Bosham Masters, Junior Week and Classic Boat Revival will have their own NoR and SI published on their calendar event pages.
Notable changes or additions to club racing documents are listed below:
Notice of Race
- Definition of a race committee
- Inclusion of the RYA Racing Charter and Fed Code of Conduct for Racing in the governance of the racing
- Clarification on scoring, discards, handicaps, use of different sized rigs (eg Aero 5, 7 and 9)
- Slow handicap now PN 1193 and above, so Laser 4,7 (ILCA 4) now included in slow fleet
- Clarification on race entry, agreement to be bound by the rules and parental declaration
- Flexibility to alter racing schedule from red book. Website calendar prevails, but cannot be amended within 24 hours of a previously published start time
- Clarification on race time limits
- Introduction of average series points for helms doing a duty (CDBs may decide to use average race points)
- Risk Statement now includes mention of some known risks, including poor water quality
Sailing Instructions
- Clarification that the East Head exclusion zone (flag F) and the 'goalpost' beacons define continuing obstructions and that RRS 19 applies (no entitlement to room unless there was room when overlap established)
- Allowing for non-handicap races to be finished with the W flag
- Establishing a new instruction that a collision with a moored boat requires a penalty turn
- Confirming the post race penalty of 30%
