Andrew Simpson Foundation Inaugural " Simpson Cup " 6 metre (modern) Regatta - Palma 15th to 17th May 2026:

Merrick Rayner (BSC Member) and Nick Lykiardopulo are organising a small Regatta in " modern " 6 metres which are very special keel boats. The prime objectives are to have a fun weekend in Palma for those who choose to come sailing as " Guest Sailors " and similarly for those who just want to come as " Supporters. " At the same time we want to raise some funds in support of the very worthwhile Andrew Simpson Foundation which BSC has supported for since its inception.

At least x 5 " modern " 6 metres will be taking part to be crewed by a number of " Guest Sailors " and some great functions for " Supporters " as you will see in the attachment below. There will be a number of Olympic sailors attending including Iain Percy and Ian Barker plus the renowned Olympic Sailing Coach, Jez Fanstone who was coach to Sir Ben Ainslie. This really is a unique sailing opportunity.

We will offer the " Supporters " a day out on Saturday 16 May to watch the 6 metres racing and a good lunch. We are charging the " Guest Sailors " £3500 per head and so for have a got 6 signed up including Iain Percy and hope to to be able to offer 10 to 12 in total.

On Friday 15th May there will be some familiarisation of the boats arranged in the afternoon with drinks at Club Nàutic Arenal in the evening followed by a dinner to be arranged at Las Sirenas which is in walking distance from the Club Nàutic.

On Saturday 16th May the " Supporters " will meet at Real Club Nàutic de Palma (RCNP) before going out in a yacht to watch the racing and have lunch. In the afternoon you will come back to RCNP. In the evening there is a dinner at El Náutio which is an excellent private restaurant located within the RCNP complex. The racing itself will take place from Club Nàutic Arenal on Saturday and Sunday.

On Sunday 17th May we have made a reservation for lunch at Ola del Marat Portixol which is a short bike ride along the coast road with stunning sea views. To be enjoyed by the " Guest Sailors " and " Supporters ."

With a limited number of spaces available for " Guest Sailors " we expect these to go very quickly. Please feel free to contact me by email: merrickrayner@gmail.com or on my mobile: 07818077006

There are many reasonable flights from the UK and it is only about 20 minutes in a Taxi from the airport to your hotel in central Palma.
