Primary school youngsters afloat thanks to BSC Youth Sailing Fund
Laughter and excited chatter from 13 Bosham Primary School children are testament to their enjoyment of their daily sailing sessions this week. Supported by the BSC Youth Sailing Fund, these lessons are enabling youngsters from the community to acquire the skills and confidence to get afloat safely and enjoyably.
For some of these Year 6 children, this is their second series of sessions with some taking RYA level 2. For others it is their first taste of sailing.
Established in 2002, the BSC Youth Sailing Fund aims to provide support to young sailors and rowers to improve their skills and widen their racing experience. To date it has distributed over £40,000 and has funded the purchase of dinghies, rowing skiffs, sails and clothing as well as assisting young BSC sailors taking part in national and international regattas.
If you know of a young sailor who deserves recognition for their efforts, please do not hesitate to contact RC Cadets, who can guide the applicant through the process.
The Fund is totally reliant on the kind generosity of members, many of whom have contributed both with direct donations and by supporting fund-raising events such as clothing sales and boat jumbles.
