Finn Tweaking and some high wind techniques.

Finn Tweaking and some high wind techniques.

Saturday 9th March saw a brisk east sou' easter as seven BSC Finn helms readied their boats for a session with Cameron Tweedle, a many time Finn champion and former member of the GBR racing Team.

We covered rig set-ups for different helm weights and different conditions and then went afloat for some upwind/downwind close tuition off Bosham Quay. In the afternoon we repaired to the clubroom to run through the video shots of the morning session providing individual tips on sail setting and rig tensions.

The modern Finn is such an eminently tuneable boat that can match a wide range of sailor's ages and sizes with the heavier helms suiting the big breezes and the smaller ones revelling in the lighter stuff. The Bosham Finn Fleet which dates back to 1952, has regrown again in recent years following on from the celebration of their big Olympic-long run from 1952 til 2022.

Cameron's session with us provided an opportunity for some who have been in the boat for a while to consolidate their skill and understanding, whilst for those new to the boat to provide a strong and stable basis for taking their skills forward.
