BSC Rowers at the Head of the Harbour Regatta (ISC)

Published 17:05 on 24 Mar 2026

On Saturday 14th March, 16 Bosham Sailing Club rowers took part in the Head of the Harbour Regatta hosted by Itchenor Sailing Club. We had three of our boats taking part, Valiant our St Ayles skiff, Lundy our Celtic longboat and Monearn our sliding seat quad.

It was a 9k course with rowers heading south from a start line off Itchenor Sailing Club and turning at East Head Spit before heading back to the finish line at Itchenor. Sea and weather conditions could hardly have been better with sunshine and wind speeds of 7 or 8 knots and on an outgoing tide, the boats raced down the main channel to their turning mark, before coming back via the shallows.

The event was primarily for fixed seat boats but the quads had their own competitive racing and the Belles in Valiant used the race as a good warm up for their various upcoming events. Both the men and the women in Lundy had a great day in their separate races, with the women coming 1st in their class and second overall and the men 2nd in class and 3rd overall.

We all look forward to continuing our rowing throughout the summer.
